Mr. Anthony (Tony) J. Cancelosi was appointed by the Board of
Directors to the position of President and CEO of Columbia
Lighthouse for the Blind (CLB) in September 2005.
Under his leadership, the organization has
refocused its priorities to better serve the needs of the more
than 20,000 residents of the greater Washington, DC metropolitan
area who are blind or visually impaired. To accomplish this
goal, he expanded CLB’s strategic partnerships within the
greater Washington, DC metropolitan area and with other
blindness and disability organizations nationwide. As CLB
increases the depth and outreach of its local program areas, Mr.
Cancelosi will continue to seek new sources of private and
government funding, reduce administrative expenses, and maintain
CLB's fiscal accountability to the organization.
Mr. Cancelosi came to CLB
after leading a number of technology
companies, including KEE Systems, Inc. (Sylvan Learning),
TransCapital, eStara, and iBrite, Inc. Prior to that, Mr.
Cancelosi devoted 17 years to sales in the training and
education business at Control Data Corporation. Mr. Cancelosi
has presented at a several of conferences on such topics as
'Utilizing Technology within Congress" and "Technology and its
Use in Enhancing Skills of the Disabled Worker."
Mr. Cancelosi possesses
wide-ranging involvement in the not-for-profit world with
reputable organizations such as the International Center for the
Disabled, National Kidney Foundation, Service Source, Special
Olympics, and Fairfax Opportunities Unlimited. A resident of
Reston, Virginia, Mr. Cancelosi received his Bachelor of Science
from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
