The AT Training
Specialist (Contract) works directly with consumers to
provide individual and group training on technology related
skills and workplace assistive technology specific to each
job, as well as assistive technology assessments. The
individual in this position must fully understand Blind and
Low Vision disabilities.”
Responsibilities:
-
Conduct individual computer and
assistive technology training with blind and low vision consumers in
the DC Metro Area.
-
Instruct, design, and continually improve job-specific
technology programs, both in a classroom and individually, to provide training which prepares
students to successfully, enter and compete in the workforce.
-
Teach employment related skills
including job specific training tracks involving the use of
technology and adaptive aids to a wide variety of individuals from
various ethnic, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds.
-
Conduct assistive technology
assessments and make recommendations for products, services, and
referrals to assist consumers in achieving training goals.
-
Screen students for basic
academic ability and preparedness prior to admittance to training
programs.
-
Provide assistive technology
installation and training services for blind and low vision
consumers nationwide.
-
Provide on the job training for
consumers who are blind or visually impaired including accessing
adaptive aids.
-
Complete progress reports in a
prescribed format that clearly state the consumer’s goals and
progress.
- Write department activity
reports and submit to the AT Director.
- Coordinate and advise referral
sources on products and training services appropriate to the
consumers needs.
- Responsible for meeting
recruitment quotas for training programs.
- Assist in marketing and
recruiting to develop programs and courses and increase enrollment.
- Provide assistive technology
training to CLB staff as needed to upgrade skills.

Skills,
Knowledge and Abilities:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
in computer technology, education, or related field.

A minimum of 2 years experience
of successful employment in a people oriented position.
Assistive
technology training and assessment is an advantage.

Experience in providing
training to groups and individuals.
-
Excellent organizational skills
and ability to multi-task.
-
Excellent oral and written
communications skills.

Ability to work independently
and in a fast paced environment.
-
Independent travel skills
within the metro DC area and nationally.

Computer literacy required,
i.e. Windows, MS Office Suite, assistive technology products for
blind and low vision users (i.e. JAWS, ZoomText, Braille displays,
etc.)

Knowledge of disability issues,
the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Rehabilitation Act as
they relate to employment.

Specialist
Purpose of Position:
Mailroom
Clerks at the State Department (Rosslyn,VA) and IRS
(Alexandria,VA) mailrooms sort mail for federal
personnel.
*All mailroom personnel are required to successfully
complete a Government Contract Security Clearance.
Responsibilities:
-
Transfer mail tubs
from loading docks to mail center in the morning
and mail center to dock in the afternoon (if
needed).
-
Sort mail from
tubs to distribution tables, which are then
broken down by mail code in the mail bins.
-
Bundle mail as
required by banding, bagging, or otherwise
containerizing.
-
Research mail not
properly addressed or properly coded.
-
Remove trash and
keep work area clean and organized.
-
Deliver
interoffice mail and picks up mail from mail
stops.
-
Perform x-ray scan
using a x-ray machine to scan all mail and
packages for security of customers if required
by contract.
-
If required at
site, pull bags to be sent at the end of the
day.
-
Perform job in a
safe manner, with concern for others and a
desire to increase production.
-
If needed, process
machine mail (folding, inserting, sealing, and
opening).
-
Follow HAZMAT
procedures for handling potentially hazardous
mail.

May require
handling accountable mail.

May require
opening and reading mail and forward to
appropriate location.

May require
processing requests for publications.

Perform duties on
a mail meter machine as needed basis.

Center provide switchboard coverage twenty-four (24)
hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year
including all city, state and federal holidays.

Purpose of Position:
The Administrative Assistant/Receptionist will be
responsible for answering telephones and greeting
guests. In addition, this individual will provide
administrative support to CLB staff. This position
reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities:
-
Answer incoming calls through the main
switchboard and direct calls appropriately.
-
Greet all guests and verify appointments with
staff; notify staff of guests in the lobby.
-
Engage and disengage night voicemail and
retrieve and route messages left in main voice
mail.
-
Schedule meetings in the DC conference room.
-
Order office supplies and kitchen supplies for
the DC office. Maintain a neat and organized
supply room. Report any copier or fax
malfunctions to supervisor.
-
Assist with mailings for all departments when
necessary.
-
Maintain morning log.
-
Collect staff schedules and compile into weekly
email to staff.
-
Address and mail President/CEO thank you notes;
enter business card info into electronic
spreadsheet.
-
Compile information packets for expos,
conferences, meetings and for visitors to the
office.
-
Distribute incoming mail; arrange for outgoing
mail, Fed-Ex or UPS shipments to be sent.

Log all incoming checks as directed by staff in
the accounting department.

Provide administrative support to accounting
department as directed.
