Become a Volunteer!

Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of Columbia Lighthouse of the Blind’s (CLB) volunteer team!

You have taken the first step by expressing an interest in our volunteer program.  You will soon be ready to begin volunteering with us.  As a volunteer, you will be working with our most valuable asset -- our clients!

You can volunteer in three easy steps:

Application

You are required to complete and submit a Volunteer Position Application to the Volunteer Program Specialist. This application is available online or can be mailed to you.  After we receive your completed application, you will be notified by our Volunteer Program Specialist to confirm the dates of the next orientation/training sessions.  To access the Volunteer Application, click here or call Jocelyn Hunter at 202-454-6422 to receive copies by mail.

References

For each volunteer, CLB must receive at least two completed Reference for Volunteer Position forms. CLB recommends distributing the forms to three people other than family members to complete. Once complete, the reference forms should come directly to CLB’s Volunteer Program Specialist.  To access the Reference for Volunteer Position forms, click here or call Jocelyn Hunter at 202-454-6422 to receive copies by mail.

Volunteer Hours

Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind (CLB) asks its volunteers to track and submit their volunteer service hours on a monthly basis.
