In the Washington, DC area, there are over 13,000 veterans who are blind or visually impaired and the unemployment rate for veterans who have served since 9/11 is at 10%, higher than the population as a whole. CLB is proud to have partnered with the United Way NCA to provide accessibility testing training for service disabled veterans, as well as non-veterans who are blind or visually impaired. Participants in CLB’s Accessibility Tester Training Program can earn a certification in “508 Compliance” which is a federal act by Congress mandating that all federal agencies make their electronic information accessible to persons with disabilities.
The next accessibility testing training is January 21st through February 3rd in the Assistive Technology lab at CLB’s Silver Spring, MD office. To learn more about United Way NCA’s partnership with CLB please read the full write up or contact Vencer Cotton at vcotton@clb.org.
